Hello!
I’m Merma
I'm an interaction designer, passionate about exploring new things and designing meaningful solutions by observing life and solving problems. I believe in embracing new experiences to fuel creativity and anticipate future needs through my designs.
Merma Ma is a New York City–based designer working across interaction design and creative technology. With a background in HCI and computational practice, and experiences spanning both consulting and studio environments, she approaches design as a way to translate research, systems, and emerging technologies into meaningful experiences. Shaped by cross-cultural education and interdisciplinary practice, her work reflects an openness to roles that move beyond traditional UI/UX definitions, exploring design as a tool for inquiry, experimentation, and expression.
Merma Ma is a New York–based designer with a background in HCI and computational practice, currently pursuing graduate studies in Interactive Telecommunications. Through interdisciplinary training and hands-on projects, she works at the intersection of interaction design, creative technology, and experimental media.
With experience across consulting environments and creative studios, she focuses on translating research, systems thinking, and emerging technologies into thoughtful, human-centered experiences that extend beyond conventional UI/UX boundaries.
As a globally minded designer, Merma is drawn to roles and projects that treat design not only as a problem-solving tool, but also as a medium for inquiry, experimentation, and expression.

Having spent significant time studying and working across different cultural environments, Merma has developed a strong sensitivity to context, perspective, and lived experience. These experiences have shaped her inclusive way of seeing the world and inform how she approaches design—listening carefully, questioning assumptions, and remaining open to ambiguity.
She believes that meaningful design emerges from curiosity, empathy, and a willingness to work across disciplines. Rather than pursuing fixed roles or labels, she values adaptability and continuous learning, especially in spaces where technology and creativity intersect.
While her work often involves digital systems and interactive media, Merma’s broader aspiration is to create experiences that encourage reflection, connection, and awareness. She is particularly interested in projects that respond to social, cultural, and emotional dimensions of contemporary life, and sees design as a way to engage thoughtfully with an ever-evolving world.
